I'm often asked why I chose this profession. For me, it all started with my family. Growing up, we would often spend weekends taking photos together, capturing memories and bonding over our shared love for photography. As I grew older and began pursuing photography professionally, I realized that it wasn't just the act of taking photos that I loved - it was the transformative power of those images.
Photos have the ability to capture a moment in time, freeze it forever, and transport us back to that moment whenever we look at them. And it's not just the memories that photos capture - it's the emotions, the connections, and the stories that they tell. They can make us laugh, cry, and everything in between. They have the power to connect us to people and places that we may have never known otherwise.
I feel a deep responsibility to use this power for good. I want to create images that not only capture a moment, but also inspire change and make a difference in the world. Whether it's raising awareness about important issues, celebrating diversity and inclusivity, or simply capturing the beauty of the world around us, I believe that photography has the power to make a real impact.
And so, I continue to capture memories and create images that bring joy, inspire change, and connect people to one another. Because in a world that can often feel disconnected and divided, photography has the power to bring us together, to remind us of what's important, and to transform the world in ways big and small.
Take a look at the image above. What you don't see, is the camera strap hanging on my shoulders, my dad, and sisters, with their own cameras documenting this particular adventure. And yet for me this portrait serves as an immediate path to this sunny day in Zelazowa Wola and the exact moment my dad took this picture. It reminds me how important photography is in our family bond. It allows me to see myself through someone else's eyes. It grounds me during tough times, remindes me of who I am and what I value. It evokes the sheer joy of that trip to the birthplace of Chopin, so many years ago. It helps me feel connected.
